I am an IT analyst based out of the Washington, D.C., area with almost 20 years of industry experience, and my current day-to-day focus is business intelligence. Authorized as a Tibco Jaspersoft instructor in 2013, I teach online and onsite to IT professionals working across different industries. I am currently teaching five Tibco Jaspersoft classes:

  1. Administering Tibco JasperReports Server
  2. Developing Reports with iReport | Studio
  3. Embedding Jaspersoft
  4. Jaspersoft Technical Training (includes ETL, Data Warehousing and OLAP)
  5. Using Jaspersoft BI

Occasionally, I teach a combination of these courses since some organizations prefer to combine and tailor the curriculum. The Jaspersoft Technical Training class includes Jaspersoft ETL and on-line analytical processing (OLAP), essential elements of decision support. When I am not teaching, I also help clients define their technical approach around these products, which can take time to determine since there are usually lots of requirements and other systems to consider, such as an external user directory.

I also work as a project manager, and over the past seven years, some of my work has taken me out of the area to places like New York, Texas, South Carolina, Connecticut, Utah, and Rhode Island, and I have also had the opportunity of managing and working on projects overseas in both Canada and Hong Kong SAR.

I have worked on a lot of IT projects since the mid-90s, usually as a project manager or task lead.  Although my primary background is centered around overseeing software implementations, I have also overseen enterprise-based projects where the overarching goal was to guide and manage systems engineering endeavors, many of which included working with specialized teams at places like the Department of State to keep a steady line of hardware and software components on the organization's baseline. The testing that went into these efforts helped the department meet their wide-ranging IT needs.

In regards to software development, I have supervised and worked on projects where we used Java, C#, Visual Basic, and the BMC Remedy Action Request System (ARS).  I have also participated on a number of Web development projects that have included working with basic HTML and many of the languages that run on a Web browser, such as Javascript, PHP, and XML.

Additionally, my strong technical writing background enables me to contribute to the development of all types of documents in ways that are appropriate and appealing for an audience. Here is a summary list of the kinds of documents that I work on in my current role: project plans, budget reports, technical specifications, risk plans, end-user manuals, lab workbooks, training plans, and test plans. I also have experience writing other types of documents, which are always well-written, detailed, and professionally formatted.
